Aggregates Firewall support, per-subscriber and per-link Bandwidth Management and Traffic Shaping, IP Routing, VoIP support via SIP, VPN and Encryption Services, as well as WiFi and WiMAX support, into a single unit.
The network is used to provide People with high-speed Internet access for Data, Phone, VoIP and Multimedia (picture/tv/video clips) transmissions. Users obtained Internet access primarily through the Wi-Fi HotZones, which are backhauled by WiMAX to the Internet. Direct WiFi/WiMAX access is also available for high-bandwidth applications. The network provides Users with real-time, live news updates, and instant event coverage through the uploading to media websites of pictures and recorded video/tv clips for special events.

MAYAN's Systems are based on radio technology that delivers excellent area coverage, high security and resistance to fading. Mayan's systems can be deployed rapidly and cost effectively, providing an attractive alternative to traditional wired communications networks
MAYAN is leading in the race to Mobile WiMAX. Through careful choice of advance technologies, the flagship base station WiFi MAX is software upgradeable to Mobile WiMAX. The 16e-USB device announced in 2006, will be the first Wave 2 compatible Mobile WiMAX device for laptops.
Combining WiMAX and Wi-Fi has been another area where MAYAN products have been paving the way for Area/Building/citywide mobile broadband through innovation and practical real-world solutions.
WiFi has a lot of advantages. Wireless networks are easy to set up and inexpensive. They're also unobtrusive -- unless you're on the lookout for a place to use your laptop, you may not even notice when you're in a hotspot.
Moving from 3G to 4G should simplify making applications available to mobile users because of the faster data rates. This will make the middleware used to adapt applications for the slower speed of wireless systems obsolete. The availability of a complete IP based service with the security of a VPN (Virtual Private Network) to the mobile end-user will be a major benefit. The access to the network will be continuous.
The face off between 4G verses Wi-Fi verses WiMAX will be a globally adopted network of shared applications, resources and standards meeting a minimum delivery requirement of VOiP.
PC, CE, and PAN wireless interconnects and digital data are helping mobile computing reach the next level. As technology reaches a new evolutionary stage, the terms “computing” or “computer” are no longer associated primarily with the educational or business sectors. Demand for digital data through high-speed wireless connections is pressuring companies to adopt new wireless interconnects and bring value to companies and their products, as well as to simplify the interconnect technology.
The dream—wireless connectivity across different CE, PC, network equipment, peripherals, and Internet-access equipment devices—is close to becoming a reality.

WHAT IS WiFi and WiMax ?

What is WiFi?
Wi-Fi, which stands for wireless fidelity, in a play on the older term Hi-Fi, is a wireless networking technology used across the globe. Wi-Fi refers to any system that uses the 802.11 standard, which was developed by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and released in 1997. The term Wi-Fi, which is alternatively spelled WiFi, Wi-fi, Wifi, or wifi, was pushed by the Wi-Fi Alliance, a trade group that pioneered commercialization of the technology.
In a Wi-Fi network, computers with wifi network cards connect wirelessly to a wireless router. The router is connected to the Internet by means of a modem, typically a cable or DSL modem. Any user within 200 feet or so (about 61 meters) of the access point can then connect to the Internet, though for good transfer rates, distances of 100 feet (30.5 meters) or less are more common. Retailers also sell wireless signal boosters that extend the range of a wireless network.
Wifi networks can either be "open", such that anyone can use them, or "closed", in which case a password is needed. An area blanketed in wireless access is often called a wireless hotspot. There are efforts underway to turn entire cities, such as San Francisco, Portland, and Philadelphia, into big wireless hotspots. Many of these plans will offer free, ad-supported service or ad-free service for a small fee. San Francisco recently chose Google to supply it with a wireless network.
Wifi technology uses radio for communication, typically operating at a frequency of 2.4GHz. Electronics that are "WiFi Certified" are guaranteed to interoperate with each other regardless of brand. Wifi is technology designed to cater to the lightweight computing systems of the future, which are mobile and designed to consume minimal power. PDAs, laptops, and various accessories are designed to be wifi-compatible. There are even phones under development that would switch seamlessly from cellular networks to wifi networks without dropping a call.
New wifi technologies will extend range from 300 feet (91.5 meters) to 600 feet (183 meters) and beyond, while boosting data transfer rates. Most new laptops nowadays come equipped with internal wireless networking cards.

What is WiMax?
The two driving forces of modern Internet are broadband, and wireless. The WiMax standard combines the two, delivering high-speed broadband Internet access over a wireless connection. Because it can be used over relatively long distances, it is an effective "last mile" solution for delivering broadband to the home, and for creating wireless "hot spots" in places like airports, college campuses, and small communities.
Based on the IEEE 802.16 Air Interface Standard, WiMax delivers a point-to-multipoint architecture, making it an ideal method for carriers to deliver broadband to locations where wired connections would be difficult or costly. It may also provide a useful solution for delivering broadband to rural areas where high-speed lines have not yet become available. A WiMax connection can also be bridged or routed to a standard wired or wireless Local Area Network (LAN).
The so-called "last mile" of broadband is the most expensive and most difficult for broadband providers, and WiMax provides an easy solution. Although it is a wireless technology, unlike some other wireless technologies, it doesn't require a direct line of sight between the source and endpoint, and it has a service range of 50 kilometers. It provides a shared data rate of up to 70Mbps, which is enough to service up to a thousand homes with high-speed access.
WiMax offers some advantages over WiFi, a similar wireless technology, in that it offers a greater range and is more bandwidth-efficient. Ultimately, WiMax may be used to provide connectivity to entire cities, and may be incorporated into laptops to give users an added measure of mobility.
WiMax requires a tower, similar to a cell phone tower, which is connected to the Internet using a standard wired high-speed connection, such as a T3 line. But as opposed to a traditional Internet Service Provider ISP, which divides that bandwidth among customers via wire, it uses a microwave link to establish a connection.
Because WiMax does not depend on cables to connect each endpoint, deploying WiMax to an entire high-rise, community or campus can be done in a matter of a couple days, saving significant amounts of manpower.
